Nail Supply

In the past few years, nail supply stores have experienced a rise in popularity as more people rely on home manicures and pedicures. Since many nail salons and manicurists buy supplies at these locations, the selection is often wide. The average nail supply store sells tools for professional nail care and enhancement, including airbrushing tools, polishes, do-it-yourself kits, and handbooks on proper finger or toenail care -- all at a rate far more reasonable than your local grocery, drug store, or specialty beauty shops.

What supplies are necessary for beautiful nails? Here are some items to keep on hand in order to keep your nails looking as if your homespun manicure or pedicure looking of professional quality (all products should be in stock at any nail supply store):
  • Acrylic nail sets

  • Airbrushing tools for intricate designs

  • Cotton bands, used in lieu of cotton balls or tissues to remove old polish without leaving that annoying fuzz behind.

  • Polish remover in alcohol and acetone-free formulas should be used on light shades of polish only; they are not as effective for removal of your favorite fire-engine red. Acetone-type remover is also good for removing excess oil from your nails, including cuticle oil.

  • Nail trimmers in separate sets for fingernails and toenails. You can use the same set for both, but you might find your manicure is cut a bit shorter than you originally intended.
