Red Lipstick Continued

Which Lipstick Shade?

While every woman probably owns at least one shade of red lipstick, there is often confusion about which shade is best. Fortunately, there are enough different shades of red lipstick that everyone looks good in it. There are true red (fire engine) lipsticks, blue-red (think red raspberry or red wine colors) lipsticks, and orange-red (think tomato) shades of red lipsticks. Each shade of red lipstick flatters specific skin tones and hair colors.

Women with warm skin tones should wear blue-red berry shades of lipstick, while cooler skin tones look better in orange-red shades of lipstick. Asian women with olive skin tones also look best in orange-red shades, while blue-red shades that border on plum and burgundy look best on African-American women. True red lipstick looks best on women with blonde hair.

What Clothing to Avoid when Wearing Red Lipstick

Although there is a shade of red lipstick to complement every woman, red lipstick does not necessarily complement all colors of clothing. Colors to avoid when wearing any shade of red lipstick include hot pink, baby blue, and peach colored clothing. As with makeup, the simple approach to clothing is best. Avoid multi-colored or elaborate outfits. Also be aware that red lipstick appears to stand out more when white, yellow, or light green clothing is worn You can't go wrong with basic black or pairing gray with true red, navy blue with darker berry red shades, or orange-red clothing with an orange-red shade of red lipstick.
