SkinMedica is a relatively new company, located in Carlsbad, California. SkinMedica is primarily focused on dermatology, and it markets prescription products and cosmeceuticals (skincare products dispensed by a physician).

Product Line - Pharmaceutical

SkinMedica's first product was introduced in July of 2003 for the treatment of melasma and postinflammatory hyperpigmentation. Epiquin™ Micro is the only hydroquinone 4% formulated with Microsponge® technology and retinol to ensure gradual delivery over time and minimize irritation. In July 2004, SkinMedica introduced VANIQA® (13.9% eflornithine hydrochloride) Cream.

VANIQA is the first and only prescription pharmaceutical product approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to slow the growth of unwanted facial hair in women. It's an ideal complementary therapy to laser hair removal.

Product Line - Cosmetic

The TNS Recovery Complex is designed to help improve the health and appearance of aging skin, and is appropriate for all skin types.

SkinMedica divides the rest of its cosmetic line is into three groups based on skin type:

Oily/Acne -- Oily skin tends to be glossy and oily to the touch, especially on the forehead, chin and nose, or the "T" zone. Many individuals with this type of skin tend to suffer from acne.
Dry/Mature -- Dry skin can be caused by external forces such as frequent washing, as well as changes in the skin's natural ability to retain moisture. Skin may appear dry and rough and show a layer of scales on its surface. As we mature, skin can naturally become dryer making fine lines more apparent.
